Perspective Series Part I: The Fire of Covetousness

The current age is fueled by a perspective driven by irrational constructs that divorce God from creation. With that in mind, we must not let our worldview be altered by the influx of false views and suppositions. The world is driven by it’s desire to be free from laws that interfere with our desires or in other terms, God’s constraints. We covet freedom and risk damnation in the pursuit.

“And you shall not covet…”

James 3:16  Biblehub.com (ESV)

To covet means to hold and maintain a strong desire for something you do not have. This feeling seems to be amplified when you are in close proximity to someone who has something you want. God gave us a commandment to help us guard or hearts because He knows how easily we can be led by desires born out of coveting. I will not bore you folks with the details of how many things we can possibly covet. I will instead focus on the deluded belief that we should be free from God’s laws or constraints. The devil preaches a gospel of self fulfillment and improvement that will lead to godlike qualities. We deem being made in His image and likeness insufficient and embrace the lie that we can make ourselves into something more noble and worthy than His design. Satan believed this and still preaches it with fervor.

To many this seems like a reasonable, logical conclusion.  Our carnal response to others items or opportunities is to be jealous. If the other is God, we feel the same way, some how slighted or left out of a good thing. God’s has a right to do what He will with His creation. This is an axiom we rebel against. What the fallen nature ultimately covets is soveriegnty. Satan rallied angels, Adam and Eve to his side by proclaiming loyalty to self and nothing besides. The image of an unbridled horse free from the restrictions of an arbitrary ruler was a rallying cry that proved to be very seductive. It worked then and it works now.

Are you on a self improvement, fulfillment quest? Are you jealous of the opportunities others have and their freedoms. If so, the fire will only get worse and it will never be satiated. The thing we covet the most is the desire to implement our wills as much as possible and based on this innate curse of the fall, we seek to be God and rule in His place in our lives and those around us. Saints it’s time to put out the fire of covetouseness and find God’s will for your life. Don’t get caught up in what you don’t have or what God has not supplied you with. Don’t focus on your neighbor, family member, attributes or anything that makes you feel less than others. You have everything you need to obey God today. Everything you need is within your grasp. Douse the fire with the water of the Spirit.

Faith is a Marriage of the Logical and Counterintuitive

Hebrews 11: 1-3 (ESV) Biblos.com

1Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.2For by it the people of old received their commendation.3By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.”

Faith is logical and faith is counterintuitive. Logic has to do with reasoning and things that can be concluded through inductive and deductive means. When dealing with the natural order of things, logic reigns supreme. Our experiences shape our approach, bolster our courage and shape those around us for future generations. We develop faith in the things we have seen and the systems that usually work for us. Socialization is the process of passing these things on to others.

When it comes to God, counterintuitive things come into play and these interventions can be disruptive in every sense of the word. God did not originate in the created order of things and in fact He has no begining, residing outside of the laws that govern creation, He simply commands us to obey when we know He is speaking. We want God to fit into our limited understanding and if He does not, we ignore His instructions or gather teachers that will shape Christ into a diety who is manageble. This is nothing more than a form of idolatry.

Logic is a gift that God has given volitional beings. It’s a useful tool that we should constantly develop. We need logic to deepen our understanding of how faith works and how God orders things in the natural and spiritual realms. We see patterns that point to a designer and this should prompt inquiry in our hearts. Our logic does not reveal God, but it should propel us to seek after Him. Paul states in Romans 1:19-20

19For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.20For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.”

When the inquiry begins we start to draw near and at some point revelation is given. Revelation may appear counterintuitive and foolish to the natural senses but we need to follow what God reveals. The scriptures teach that only by faith can we grasp the concept of a Creator who made all things and came to the earth to dwell amongst us. We were not there when these things happened but we accept this revelation and it is the access point into the realm of adoption or being born again. Even the statement I just made is contrary to the reason we were shaped by.  However, we must keep in mind the fact that just because something is counterintuitive, does not mean it’s countersense or nonsense.

Here is what God is looking for in regards to faith:

5When he entered Capernaum, a centurion came forward to him, appealing to him,6“Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering terribly.”7And he said to him, “I will come and heal him.”8But the centurion replied, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed.9For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my servant,c ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”10When Jesus heard this, he marveled and said to those who followed him, “Truly, I tell you, with no one in Israeld have I found such faith.11I tell you, many will come from east and west and recline at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven,12while the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”13And to the centurion Jesus said, “Go; let it be done for you as you have believed.” And the servant was healed at that very moment.

The centurion’s faith was logical. He reasoned based on the testimonies of others and what he may have seen. He combined the counterintuitive and the logical and made a bold assertion. Jesus was pleased and performed a miracle based on His authority and power. The centurion was blessed because he rested his faith in divine claims.

Mark 12:24 states: Jesus said to them, “Is this not the reason you are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God? (ESV)

Today we have cessationists who believe the supernatural acts of God have come to an end and we have hyper charismaniacs who think they are the embodiment of all things supernatural. Both camps are victims of their own imbalance. We truly live in an unhealthy church age. You need to assess yourself. Are you a cessationists trapped in logic and doctrine, or are you at the opposite of the spectrum following every thought that enters your mind, believing it to be inspired? If you are on either end of this spectrum you need to come to a place of rest where logic and the counterintuitive come together. They come together in Christ. He created all things and can interrupt all of creation to accomplish His purpose in the world. Make room for Him in all you do. Remember to balance your leadings with scripture.  May your faith be a blessing and inspiration to everyone around you. May you be sound in doctrine, open to revelation and a leader in this age.

Crisis-Driven World: Crisis-Driven Saints

John 16:33:

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (ESV) Biblos.com

Everywhere we look we are reminded of impending doom and worst case scenarios. There is something about the human soul that is attracted to good character, beauty and hope; conversely, we are drawn to and occupied by evil, fear and uncertainty. Try making a movie without those 6 elements and the heroes and antagonists who embody them, and you will ensure a flop. Art mirrors life.

As a species we nurse the wounds and injuries we have acquired over the years. We constantly devise ways to protect ourselves and loved ones that come up short. Long term hope seems in short supply and when good things happen our next question is, how long will it last? This sometimes drives us to conclude we should extract everything we can from situations or people that will benefit us because we never know when they will end. We become survivalists and takers not givers as instructed by scripture. Living in a perpetual state of high alert concerning the  potential crises we may face next, we lose sight of our Savior. The world is crisis driven and unfortunately so are many saints.

To remedy this I want to offer some instruction. Consider the statement of Christ above. He said that we would face tribulation in the world. There is no way around it; so plan on it and accept it. Next ask God how we can glorify Him in the crises we face. We were born in a turbulent ocean but He has given us the navigational tools for the journey and an arc – Christ, that will safely guide us home to the New Jerusalem. Our peace is knowing that He is with us in every crisis, and He has equipped us to face each one, even those of our own making. We must learn to be Spirit led, not crisis driven. The noise and tumult demand our attention, but we don’t have to focus on to them. God is worth our undivided attention. Let us rest in that regardless of what is to come. He has chosen us, therefore when He moves us forward and we see something on the horizon we should move forward whehter it appears fortuitous or ominous.

Self Deception Series Part III: Interpreting Providence

Matthew 22:29 NIV (Biblos.com)

“Jesus replied, “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.”

It’s interesting; the things I hear from Christians young and old perplex me. I think that we live in an age where people are polarized and unbalanced, giving rise to bizarre approaches to formulating beliefs and behaviors. We tend to interpret the things that enter our lives in either in an unrealistic, favorable light or the through the lenses of worst case scenarios. This is neither healthy for us individually or edifying for others.

Some of the things that come into our life are evil and from the enemy. God allows it, but His desire is for us to resist and become mature and trained so we can overcome Satan. These allowances are certainly with in the realm of providence. We need to understand providence from a thouroughly Christian perspective. Providence is simply a term that means God prearranges all things good and evil to bring about His desired outcome. When I say prearranges that simply means nothing can happen without Him allowing it to come to pass through the agency of  created, volitional (beings endowed with choice – angels and men for example) creatures or by direct divine action. Divine action can be seen as acts such as creating the universe and its laws, parting the red sea and Christ’s resurrection . Providence does not mean that your life has been prearranged to suit you and your aims; it means God has prearranged all things to secure eternal benefits for ALL the members of His kingdom.

The error of God’s people has consistently been based on the exaltation of their wills and preferences. If we knew the scriptures better and the power of God more intimately, we would not jump to conclusions on God’s providence. It’s hubris to believe providence serves us primarily and that we can interpret what God is doing in our lives without seeking His leading. The flawed logic flows this way:

That also reduces the cost of generic medicine a levitra cost of sales lot. Mullein This herb cures many ailments and canada viagra cheap disorders including coughing, sore throat, and also lung cancer. Kamdeepak capsules: It is a libido booster pills for men cialis cost 20mg is one of the most popular sex pills for men. I prayed for it>  So I’m looking for it > Aha! This must be it.

We can know God and His ways, if we continually turn to him. If we do — we will refrain from going about our lives in search of something we have manufactured in our minds. I thank God for His providence, but I grieve God with my selfish interpretations. In fact I may be causing others to stumble when I confidently declare what God is doing on my behalf. God save us/me from self deception.

Self Deception Series Part II: The Kingdom is Inseperable from the Gospel

There has been quite a bit of noise and controversy made in recent decades regarding preaching and doctrine. Perhaps the rapid expansion of the prosperity/wellness gospel and the insurance gospel are not indicators of revival but men’s ability to hijack and distort God’s word. The two spring from the same tree, man’s self-seeking heart.

To be more specific the health and prosperity gospel are tied to securing benefits in this that alleviate are eliminate physical suffering or deprivation of any type. The insurance gospel rest on the idea that a sinner can say a prayer and be indemnified from eternal judgment, if he is sincere at the moment he says it. These notions of the gospel perpetuate the deception that man can be in charge of his temporal and eternal destiny by sincerity and believing alone. Although these sentiments are understandable from a human vantage point, they fall short of historical, biblical standards. God must give us the faith to believe and purify our hearts so that we can be sincere. These doctrines are made in America and made for Americans, but they are foreign to the sound teaching of scripture.

Election teaches us that God examines, draws and secures the hearts of all who will ever belong to Him. The gospel issues from the soveriegnty of God and is but one aspect of governance from His vantage point. We would do well to remember this in a humanistic age.
To cialis generika solboards.com cap it all, erectile dysfunction could overcome it by simply eating a Mediterranean diet. The gospel is not about health and wealth, it is not an insurance policy from the lake of fire. It is good news for the elect. To focus on anything other than the one who saves is to make salvation a means to an end. The Lord despises the misuse of His word for selfish gain, but He is also quick to forgive those who repent of this. (We have all done it in some manner or form.) The Kindgom is moving and you will move with it or it will move against you. Lay hold of it friend. Lay hold of it.

Here is a good read that amplifies some of the points I have made: http://chalcedon.edu/research/articles/the-gospel-of-the-kingdom-of-god/

Self Deception Series: Attaching God’s Name to Our Endeavors

Psalm 50: 16-21 (ESV From Biblehub.com)

16 But to the wicked God says: “What right have you to recite my statutes or take my covenant on your lips? 17 For you hate discipline, and you cast my words behind you. 18 If you see a thief, you are pleased with him, and you keep company with adulterers.

19 “You give your mouth free rein for evil, and your tongue frames deceit. 20 You sit and speak against your brother; you slander your own mother’s son. 21 These things you have done, and I have been silent; you thought that Ic was one like yourself. But now I rebuke you and lay the charge before you.

The passage above is for unbelievers, but it should also serve as a reminder to us and our fallen nature that is active and in rebellion against God. We think as Christians we have ourselves in check, but in reality we lack appropriate reverence for God so we simply presume His blessing on many of our endeavors. We need to be more sober minded and humble when we initiate anything we beleive God is calling us to do.

It is have a peek here purchase viagra widely used in ayurvedic supplements to stop masturbation addiction and men can easily overcome the impotence problem with the help of this medication. Sadly they will hear the dreaded words, “I never knew you.” from our Lord on the Day of His return. They were vicitims of their own self deception and we too suffer from the same ailment. It’s no longer enough to call Satan a master deceiver because in reality we are the masters of self decetpion. It is interwoven into our fallen God denying nature and we can never be delivered without divine aid.

I believe in all of the forces of darkness that the Bible clearly speaks of in the scriptures but I also believe this verse found in James 1:13-15

13Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one.14But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.15Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.

We are tempted constantly and we choose to partake in many sins as we journey through this decaying world. More often than not, unbelievers see our witness as something to use against us and nothing more. This should not lead to a witness worship were we become fake and lack authenticity. As we mature in Christ we understand the Father’s love and grace is the only thing that can break sin in our lives and we share this. This is why it is so important to take ownership of our trangressions and not change the Gospel or bring God’s name into our endeavors so eagerly. The world needs to hear ,”My bad.” and “That’s on me not God.” Let’s set Him apart from our self-seeking endeavors.

Disrupting the Devil’s Plots

“The devil has a strategy to deceive believers and make them doubt the faithfulness of God in answering prayer.” – David Wilkerson

Psalm 37:34 NASB Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land;

Did you recognize that when you went to bed last night, that the devil and his hordes were holding a strategy session or brainstorming on how to kill your testimony, steal your joy and destroy your faith and hope in God? (John 10:10)

That’s right, for even if you don’t think so, you, all Believers, are a threat to the devil. He knows that the closer we grow in Christ, the more we allow the Holy Spirit to guide us and give us understanding and wisdom of God’s Word, we can not only disrupt his plans, but make him retreat.

I have written many times regarding the power that we have been given because of Christ and the Holy Spirit. This power will not be released if we believe we don’t have it. That is what the enemy wants us to believe and his strategy is to convince, trick or outright lie to us, of a false identity.

But know my brothers and sisters, we are no longer who we used to be. We have been made new, redeemed, restored, sanctified and empowered. (Psalm 74:2 NLTRemember that we are the people you chose long ago, the tribe you redeemed as your own special possession! Romans 5:10-11 NLTFor since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. 11 So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.)

Therefore, when we go to God in prayer, we must not allow our enemy’s strategies to work in our lives. They have no power unless we give it to them. God hears us when we pray…period! The Holy Spirit takes our sincere prayers, even those that are selfish, corrects them and takes them to our Heavenly Father who hears every one. (Romans 8:26 NASB 26 In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words;)He answers them in His timing and in His way.

There are many things that can levitra generika click here to find out more cause erectile dysfunction include multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, epilepsy, or other nervous system disorders which has issues with penile erections. David said it best; “Wait on the Lord”. Stay the course and keep His ways. Don’t look for short cuts or quick fixes. Never want something so badly, that you are willing to do anything to get it. That is one of the devil’s strategies to increase our desires for something, that we look for other means to get it, other than asking God and then waiting for His answer or better plan.

I pray that God continues to draw us closer to Him and gives us patience and a stronger hope in Him and His promises.

To God be the Glory. Praise God and have a blessed day today.

Templates are popular in a world of emulation. We see it in music, art, politics, ministry and just about every form of human of activity. In some extreme cases people undergo plastic surgery to look like someone else, despising the unique design God produced through their DNA. As Believers we need to understand that there is no template for us. We were designed to produce specific outcomes. God calls this fruit bearing. Many Christians are deceived about their callings and what God is looking for. They suffer from decision paralysis in the things of God and their Christian life will never bring much attention to the Gospel.

Will there be ambivalence (Two are more feelings about a matter present in the heart at the same time) at the Judgment Seat of Christ? Unfortunately scripture suggest that will be the case. While it’s true we will receive our eternal rewards for the work we completed here. It’s also likely from the passage below that joy and godly sorrow may be present.

But each one should build with care. 11For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. 14If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. 15If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.

Overcoming Obstacles and Idols

“In the sorest trials God often makes the sweetest discoveries of Himself.” — Author Unknown

Luke 4:18 NLT 18 “The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, 19 and that the time of the LORD’s favor has come.”

Amen and Amen! Yes it is time to proclaim the Good News to all who have ears to hear and hearts to receive. No more excuses of not being ready, no more blaming or waiting on others. No more allowing the enemy to keep us in turmoil or distracted. There are no mountains too high, valleys too low or crevices too wide. In fact, there is absolutely no obstacle or enemy great enough to ultimately stop the Kingdom of God or God’s Children.

Great is our God and great is His faithfulness! Glory and praise to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who died for all of our sins. Who has redeemed us and restored us into a right fellowship with Almighty God, the Creator of All. Worthy is the Lamb of God, who has set us free!

The Holy Spirit reminded me this morning to let go of and remove those idols that I have created or allowed to be placed before me. He said to stop hiding behind those lifeless and life-sucking idols that have no power in a Child of God’s life. Of course this came to me as a shock, because I didn’t believe I would or could have any idols in my life.

Then the Spirit revealed those idols: Man-made or man-given titles. Status. Position in Society. Bank Accounts. Material assets. Self-assurance. Desires of Control. Idols made out of Feelings, Fears, Worries and Doubts.

He said, none of these have power over you, unless you continue to bow down and worship them. But the Word of God says in Genesis 35:2-3 NLT 2 So Jacob told everyone in his household, “Get rid of all your pagan idols, purify yourselves, and put on clean clothing. 3 We are now going to Bethel, where I will build an altar to the God who answered my prayers when I was in distress. He has been with me wherever I have gone.

It is the Good News that Jesus Christ has washed us in His blood and clothed us in His righteousness. It is Christ who has saved us and now revealed to us that God is, has been and always will be with us, wherever we are and wherever we go. For we belong to the Creator, not ourselves as the enemy would want us to believe. Its not our life, but the life that we have because of Christ that matters.

Who’s in Charge of Your Journeys/Transitions?

“Do you know where you’re going to? Do you like the things that life is showing you? Where are you going to? Do you know?”

“Theme from Mahogany”  Written by Michael Masser and Geral Goffin

Isaiah 6:1-8 (ESV) Biblehub.com

1In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the traina of his robe filled the temple. 2Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3And one called to another and said:

“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!”b

4And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. 5And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!”

6Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.”

8And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

And so the transition started. Isaiah, an ordinary man by all accounts, began on a journey of epic proportions. He would be the recipient of visions and dreams that would not only tell of the future of his people, these revelations would stretch into eternity and comprise all of humanity and the angelic host. Yet they would be exacting — requiring, according to historical documents — his very life.
In some cases, men also experienced irreversible loss of function. 2. online viagra Impotence is best viagra for women often treated with ‘over the counter’ drugs. Paul is another example of a saint doing his own thing. Traveling with muderous intent in order to destroy a people he deemed worthy of death, God interrupted him on the journey and Paul obeyed the instructions, becoming a pillar of faith for all time. He would fully place every new transition in God’s hands.

Paul knew he would suffer but pressed on. Peter was similarly informed about suffering and that he would perish for his faith. This did not change his focus. His command was to “feed the sheep.” Selfless, intrepid, dedicated service is what God expects. It’s how He flows through appointed leaders. When you say, “Here I am! Send me.” Expect challenges from all of the spiritual forces the Accuser  and world can muster against you. Remember this, “We are His workmanship created for good works in Christ” (Ephesians 2:10). We are “clay” and God shapes us primarily through two means: Revelation: scripture and his revealed calling for our lives and the experiences that befall us. This is the journey and He is the destination.

Those outside of Christ know of no better option than self seeking. Carnal believers are deceived into following the same path and devil really does not care when we do our own thing because we are helping him. We contribute to the ocean of lawlessness in this world. The prince of this age is always looking for talented people and he helps them with their transition to secure resources, influence, money, and security in the things of this world. The primary criterion is that they must promote his agenda, persistent self-seeking.

Don’t fall for it. Remember the words of Christ and take them to heart.

Matthew 7:13 -14

13“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easya that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.”
