In 2 Chronicles 7, we find Solomon praying to God, to dedicate the temple they built to Him.  Verse one tells us that the “fire from Heaven” came down and sanctified the offering and sacrifices of the people that were made.  Not only that, but the very Spirit of God “filled” the entire temple.  Later in the chapter, it says that the Lord appeared before Solomon and tells him that He heard Solomon’s prayer and has chosen to dwell there.  So far so good, right?
Now comes the interesting part.  God then informs Solomon, that when He(God), “shuts up Heaven” and doesn’t bless the people, there was a way out for them.  This is where we come to the more familiar verses of 14 and 15: “if My people, who are called by my name…….”
Several things to consider here.
1. Solomon builds a place for God to dwell amongst them and makes sacrifices.
2. Solomon prays for God to bless the temple and enter in.
3. God does just that, by sending His Spirit in the form of fire to show is approval.
4. God then tells Solomon that “when”, not “if”, He shuts the windows of Heaven.
5. God then provides a promise to Solomon and God’s people.
So what’s the message?
Pray for the realization that the Holy Spirit dwells in your temple (you).  1 Corinthians 3:16 NKJV 16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and  that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
Understand that the sacrifices that God is looking for is not burnt offerings but a humble spirit and a repentant and clean heart. Psalm 51: 16-17 NKJV 16 You do not desire a sacrifice, or I would offer  one. You do not want a burnt offering.17 The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.
Accept the reality that we will experience storms and trials in this life…no one is exempt.
And finally, hold on to God’s promise that if we stay humbled before Him, continue to pray, seek God’s ways and will, and turn from our own agendas, God will keep us and provide for us.
I don’t know what plans or goals you may have set for this year, but the one God gave me, is one that will ensure His people a victorious year.  What say you men and women of God?
I believe God’s Word to be true and I know that God is faithful.  So lets stand and rejoice.  For we have the victory.
God bless
