Your Storm Has A Purpose

Heavenly Father, we thank you again for another day. We are grateful for the mercy, grace and love that you have given to us. We praise your name for who you are and your work in forgiving us, redeeming us and restoring us to a right relationship with you. We are constantly humbled before you for we know that without you, we are lost and only surviving day to day, instead of living with hope, joy and purpose. Help us to rejoice today in knowing that nothing that we face, escapes your watchful and caring eyes and that you have equipped us to be victorious in all things. Help us Father to let your let shine brightly in and through us, so that all darkness must retreat in defeat, before the holiness and righteousness of your power within each of us. We give you the glory for all of the great things that you have done, are doing and plan to do in our lives. It is in Jesus name we, pray and say thanks. Amen.

“Jesus hath many lovers of His heavenly Kingdom, but few bearers of His Cross. He hath many desirous of consolation, but few of tribulation. Many love Jesus so long as no adversities befall them.” — Thomas à Kempis

It is no surprise that for many Believers, it appears that the storms of life just doesn’t seem to end. It often feels like after one storm cloud leaves, another one can be seen in the horizon. We search the scriptures, fall on our knees in dedicated prayer, run to the church alter, the pastor, Christian books, etc., to try and understand, why these storms keep coming.

We can’t understand why a loving and caring God, would continue to allow such things to fall upon His Children. We reason that it makes more sense to us, that troubles should be the main course of those who refuse God’s love and redemption, not for us who are trying to live for Him. It just doesn’t seem fair. We have given up so many things and endured so much ridicule from so-called friends, family and others, for desiring to live a life for Christ. Only to be faced with trials and circumstances in our lives, just like everyone else. And we cry out; “Why me Lord”!!!

The hope and encouragement that I have found and can offer those who can relate to feeling this way from time to time is that God knows everything that we are going through. And if God knows, He has a purpose and a plan for every trial and every storm that He allows us to endure. Notice that I said, “endure”. Because God equips us to be able to stand through it all. When we become weak in our own strength to stand, that is when God steps in with His Spirit to lift us up and empowers us to go on. In fact, like the poem, Footprints, He even carries us through the hardest times we faced or will face.

2 Corinthians 4: 18 NLT 18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.

The key to endure these valleys in our lives is to “fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen”. Yes, the invisible God, the Mighty One, the All Powerful and ever Present God, who declared that He will never leave us nor forsake us.

This my brothers and sisters, we can assuredly stand on, no matter how hard the winds may blow or how tough the tasks may be.

Finally, the difference between our trials and those of the world is in what God has purposed for our lives.
