The prophet Isaiah cried out to God on behalf of God’s people during Israel’s judgment. He prayed for God’s continued mercy, grace and favor as well as restoration of God’s people unto Himself.  Most importantly in Isaiah’s prayer, is the acknowledgement of the sins of Israel and how they had turned away from God to other gods and their lusts for living their own lives.  But Isaiah knew that God was their only help and hope for relief, renewal and restoration.  Isaiah not only proclaimed the sins of the people but also acknowledge the holiness, righteousness and almighty power of God to perform the miraculous on their behalf for His glory.  Isaiah remembered the awesomeness of God’s might and announced this fact before all of Israel, so that they could remember too.  His declaration was made in order that Israel would repent and that God would deliver them from their sins and bondage.

I believe as Believers,we should be making the same proclamations, declarations, and prayers for our families, communities, churches, and nations. We need to repent individually and collectively and remember who is the only One that can save us, restore us and deliver us from our mess.
How many ineffective and powerless church services, sermons and worship services are we going to hold before we face the real problem?  How many calls for outreach and building new churches and establishing new and innovative programs will we develop, before we realize the real problem and the answer?
Our sins are the problem and the answer is Jesus!

In a day where religion is all-inclusive, churches and yes, us church-folk, resemble more of the world than the world itself.  Where our focus is on not offending people in order that our congregations grow and the money flows in.  Where “holiness and righteousness” are Old Testament traits that don’t apply today.  Can one truly be surprised at the state of our society, nation and world?

As I sit here in my office writing this, I am faced with the dark clouds of my excuses of how I am only one person, and that I cannot make a change in anything that is going on today in the world. And I wonder how many of us are sitting in our comfortable, “God, I will call on you when I need you”, and “as long as the storms don’t hit my front door, all is well”, lifestyles.

The inexcusable fact that we cannot get around or to say it another way, ” The Truth Of The Matter”, is that as Believers, we have been given, God ordained power!  Not to build buildings, not to create ear-pleasing programs or politically correct doctrines, but power to storm the gates of Hell itself.  Individually and collectively!  Power to change not only our circumstances, but our household, our jobs, our communities, our nation and even this entire world.  This power is in the hands of every Believer!

Yet, we sit on it!

Waiting for someone else or in my case a lot of times, waiting on Christ to return to take me/us out of this mess.  I will call it like it is this morning: this is cowardice!

Some may say that I’m being a little too hard today in this devotional.  But my spirit is telling me that maybe I’m have not been hard enough.  For how hard was it for Jesus to endure the cross?  How hard was it for the Saints of old and even some today, who have given their all and their lives for the sake of the Gospel?

Each of us will have to look in the mirror and ask ourselves, what have we’ve done with the Power of God today?  Even more so, one day we will have to answer this question before Christ.

If prayer is not a focused, committed part of our lives as Christians, then we are truly fooling ourselves into thinking we are followers of Christ..  For it is clear that prayer was a critical part of Jesus life and ministry.  And we have scripture after scriptures of the men and women of God, staying in communication with God through prayer.  It was only after and through prayer, that they accomplished what God had purposed for them and those they ministered to.

We pray and ask in Jesus name, and God never fails to answer.  But that is not the primary reason to pray.  Prayer is our offering of praise and glory to God.  It is our opportunity to connect our spirit with His. To place our hearts and minds in humble submission to the Will of God.  We honor God with our prayers.

If we can begin to see prayer this way and not just as a vehicle to get out of trouble or to get what we want, then prayer and the act of praying becomes more desirable and effective.

Father, we ask that you would accept our offering of prayer today.  That at this time, our only desire is to thank you for your Son, your Word, your Spirit and your Love.  For this is truly all that we need. We honor you by desiring to spend as much time with you as we can.  Not just today, but every day that you grant us life upon this earth.  Help us to understand that being in your presence is what you desire.  And its in your presence, that we are able to be empowered to serve you and those you are calling to your Son.  Thank you for saving us.  Thank you for accepting us.  Thank you for loving us.  In Jesus, most precious name we pray, Amen.

Do you see your current obstacles or situations as preparations for something greater?  I agree that it takes extreme effort and faith to view our tests and trials as just that…something to make us stronger.  But as Believers in a great and Holy God, we must see things from a different perspective…God’s perspective.

If we desire to serve God, be conformed to His image, and take on the character of Christ, can we truly do no less that to endure various tests and obstacles in order to be the vessels that God will and can use?  Of course we would rather God simply snap His fingers and poof, we are instantly clean, perfect and righteous.  Because of Christ we are just that, however, we will never believe it unless it is shown to us by how we live and stand against the adversities that face us in life.  We could and would never see God’s goodness, love and power, if He did not deliver us from our problems when we call and place our trust on and in Him.

When we truly understand God’s love and plans for us, like David, we may one day be able to say:

At this time, we were not lost, we were not without purpose or direction.  No we had found The Way, The Truth and The Life…in God!  And because we had found Jesus, we had found ourselves, our created purpose, our eternal future.  It had absolutely nothing to do with church attendance, amount of giving or service, etc. etc.  It was simply all about Jesus.

Can I share something with you this morning?  IT’S STILL ALL ABOUT JESUS!.

If you have found yourself in unfamiliar territory, may your heart, soul and spirit refocuses themselves on Jesus.  For He is THE WAY to God, THE TRUTH of God and THE LIFE in God.

Sometimes, our stress and frustration as Christians comes because we are busy doing things that are already done.  Instead of resting in Christ, having the peace of Christ, trusting and standing, we are busy worrying, fighting, and chasing after.

A right relationship with God, born of faith, is more valuable than anything we can accumulate, buy, bargain or obtain on our own. It is this faith in Christ, that pleases God and makes available all of Him to us.

Instead of working so much on service and sacrifice, try getting to know God in a more intimate way through His Son Jesus.  Institute faith in God in your daily lives.  Stop looking for answers and help from the world. It can only provide false and or temporary solutions that more than often hinders a closer relationship with Christ.

Relationships can be good, fruitful and beneficial.  But there is nothing greater than an intimate relationship with God Almighty.

Is a relationship with God your number 1 priority?  I pray if not, that today you will begin to make it so.

Heavenly Father, we thank you again, for a new day.  We pray that your Will be done in our lives and that our will conforms to yours. That our desires become your desires and that we continue to live for you.  Let our lives shine brightly in this world that rapidly seems to get darker and darker.  Set us on a hill Father so that your Spirit flows in, through and from us, to this world that desperately needs to know you.  Help us to live accordingly to your Word and your Word only.  We desire for the Holy Spirit to be our guide and declare Jesus as our Lord and Savior.  You are our God and we will have no other.  We praise you today and may every thing we do, glorify your name.  In Jesus name we ask this…Amen.

But the Word of God has something to say about this generation or any generation that believes and thinks this way:

We are not to change from the instructions we have been given from Almighty God through His Word, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and God’s servants.  Even if the world is doing their “new thing”, we must not falter or waiver in what we know is right, according to the Word of God.

We are called to and for a higher purpose as Children on God.  We will be considered different, non-compliant, radical and in some cases, ignorant and foolish to believe in a God that the world does not know and refuses to accept. But we must hold on to God’s unchanging hands…with all that we have. This is how we are to be lights and the salt of the earth.

Do what you need to do in us Heavenly Father, for we don’t want second best, but all that You have Willed for our life.  In Jesus name we ask this, Amen.

Instead of always looking at what is happening TO us, we need to see what is happening IN us.  When we have this perspective of our circumstances and situations, we will have less fear and frustration and allow more of God’s peace and joy, to return to us.  For it is in our circumstances, when we are at our wits end, that we can come to realize the vastness of God’s love, mercy, grace and power.

Heavenly Father, we thank you for yet another day to honor you and worship you.  We ask forgiveness for our sins and your help in completely turning away from them.  We know our sins separate us from you and that is not our desire, for we long to be in your presence and to commune with you.  We ask Father that your Spirit fills us, surrounds us and empowers us to live for you.  That we truly become beacons of your glory and direction to others for a saving relationship with Jesus.  Let your light shine brightly in and through us this day.  And we will praise you always.  In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
