Election, Sphere and Spectrum

All Scriptures are ESV and are From Biblos.com

As we go through the maze of life in search of opportunities, financial security, recognition, physical fitness, and a better future for our families and friends, we often miss something — the will of God in our pursuits. Every believer is chosen by God and placed in a particular sphere or arena in which he/she is to advance his will. The spectrum of influence is up to us. We can be smoldering wicks, barely noticeable — or we can burn bright and intensely. The choice is ours.

The spiritual paucity of the church in this age is not because of a lack of literature, clever teachings, knowledgeable shepherds or church buildings. The paucity of God’s manifestation in our lives comes down to one thing — a lack of obedience.  You see as I near age 46, I am aware of my redemption, righteousness before God, sins, shortcomings, faults and ultimately my dependency upon my savior. I am aware that all of the gifts and talents that he has bestowed upon me are to be used for him, my neighbor and last of all me — in that order! We have it reversed.

If one examines the scriptures it becomes abundantly clear that whenever God truly did something, the direct impact upon the lives of people was evident for all to see. He knows us from beyond the realm of time and space. How heartbreaking it must be that our priorities have been based on man’s election, the sphere they place us in and our battles to increase our influence in a place that is fading away. Still convinced you can do it on your own? Well, you can, but it will have no eternal worth or value. All that you have done will simply be burned up and revealed for all of the shallowness it was — except for what was done in his will. People may thank you here and praise you for your efforts, but don’t expect it from God my friend.

I shudder to think, not about salvation, but all of the wasted effort, thoughts, time and idle talk that I have engaged in, simply passing time and convincing myself of the significance of these activities. (Thank God for his grace!) I remind myself that election and sphere are appointments from Him. The spectrum of my influence is a matter of being a coworker with Christ.  “For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s field, God’s building.” 1 Cor 3:9

Armed with this knowledge of who we are and how God has uniquely designed us for his purpose, we should ask — is he getting the best of us, our first fruits? If not why?  See if you can honestly come up with a legitimate reason when you look in the mirror. As our life continues to unfold and we draw near to Christ, in times of prayer, reflection, devotion and the reading of sacred scripture, our excuses melt away. Will we honor the arena that we have been placed in? Will we increase our spectrum of influence? Have we become satisfied with the favor of the world? We have been appointed by an infallible God who knows what’s best for us. Better saints than us have pressed forward; we should do no less.

God’s Election and Predestination

Galatians 1:11-17

David

13 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.a Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.  Psalm 139: 13-16

Sampson

1And the people of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, so the Lord gave them into the hand of the Philistines for forty years.

2There was a certain man of Zorah, of the tribe of the Danites, whose name was Manoah. And his wife was barren and had no children. 3And the angel of the Lord appeared to the woman and said to her, “Behold, you are barren and have not borne children, but you shall conceive and bear a son. 4Therefore be careful and drink no wine or strong drink, and eat nothing unclean, 5for behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. No razor shall come upon his head, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb, and he shall begin to save Israel from the hand of the Philistines.” 6Then the woman came and told her husband, “A man of God came to me, and his appearance was like the appearance of the angel of God, very awesome. I did not ask him where he was from, and he did not tell me his name, 7but he said to me, ‘Behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. So then drink no wine or strong drink, and eat nothing unclean, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb to the day of his death.’”  Judges 13:1-7

All Believers

3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, 4even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love 5he predestined usb for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, 6to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. 7In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, 8which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight 9making knownc to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ 10as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.   Ephesians 1:3-10

It’s time to end the excuse making and press forward. You will only find rest in your appointed place and in your faithfulness to serve there.

Time and Favor

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”  Matthew 7:7  ESV

3Let not  steadfast love and  faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck;     write them on the tablet of your heart. 4 So you will  find favor and  good success  in the sight of God and man. Proverbs 3:3-4 ESV

12 So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.” Psalm 90:12 ESV

In today’s world there is a deficit of trust in relationships; therefore, we are constantly attempting to seek out people we can trust, while simultaneously developing ourselves into trustworthy, covenant people. Worldly people place a premium on money and health as the keys to happiness. These are important, but they are not the aim of life. The world values these things because frankly, nothing can hinder their pursuits in life like deficits in these areas. The prosperity church has borrowed this mantra, effectively reducing people’s faith to obtaining and maintaining these two fruits from God.

I’m not against health or wealth. I think there are great blessings bestowed on some people in abundance. I am however against the preeminent roles they play in some doctrines. They give rise to a host of issues and practices that are not Biblical. The scriptures are clear about self-seeking versus kingdom seeking. Two of the most valuable resources in the kingdom are time and favor. What I mean is this, ultimately our lives are units of time God gives us. We may have a host of issues and problems associated with this unit, but we are accountable to God for it. If we are alive; we are blessed. The second component of doing God’s will is favor. Favor is simply this, people open their hearts to assist you in God’s calling for your life. Favor with God and man translates into open hearts.

So here is the deal, the straight no chaser truth about it — God gives us time to do what we need to do and then He gives us the favor we need to carry it out. Health and wealth fixations promote self seeking attitudes that promote our own agenda. Numbering our days the right way and seeking to do God’s will, grants us favor with the right people at the right times in our lives.

Purify Me

Psalm 51: 7-17

(ESV Version Via Biblos.com)

7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 8 Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones that you have broken rejoice. 9 Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a rightb spirit within me. 11 Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.

13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will return to you. 14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, O God of my salvation, and my tongue will sing aloud of your righteousness. 15 O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise. 16 For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; you will not be pleased with a burnt offering. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

The reason why aspects check out this link now purchase generic cialis such as liquor can impact you performance for sure. David’s heart was broken and he was left with an accusing conscience that tormented him day and night. He was brought to the point where he no longer cared about his reputation, possessions or life itself; he longed fervently for a restored relationship with God. Willing to do whatever it took, he no longer bargained or negotiated — he simply cried out to God. He was in a good place.

Have you been there, lately? Or do you somehow believe that sin on the part of an elect saint does not tarnish the relationship? Do you believe that hardness of heart is something that other people struggle with; yet, it’s not an issue with you? If so, you are deceived. Although David committed adultery and killed a man, God’s grace was still available to him. He was as Max Lucado would say, “In the grip of grace.” Yet this grace brought about chastisement, and the most severe, the withdrawal of God’s presence, favor and anointing.  These indicators gave one clear message; God was not pleased.

David recognized his abject, spiritual poverty before his Creator and was broken. My friend this brokenness was an act of the Spirit, and David’s crying out was volitional. David kenw that God will always come to the aid of a “broken and contrite heart.”

God help us to recognize our spiritual poverty before You. Help us cry out for you alone and enable us to remove all other considerations while in your presence. May you purify us through and through by your loving, shepherding hand. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Show Justice, Love Mercy and Walk Humbly

Now and then we come across axioms – self-evident truths – that simply should be shared. I am a Christian who simply believes that the book of Micah, verses 6-8 of the Old Testament, is instructional for any and every relationship, no matter how distant or familiar. I find comfort in the scriptures. The full text reads:

He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?  (New King James Version)

I become the millionaire of viagra canada pharmacy happiness because I give of myself.
The reason I call this a self-evident truth is because justice, mercy and humility are desired traits. Injustice, grudge mongers and the arrogant are often bereft of authentic relationships. We all want to be around people who are fair and just, merciful and humble.  Every single one of us makes mistakes and most of us want to become better versions of ourselves. How do we become better? Obviously we have to make an effort, but we also need people who are fair with us, merciful toward us and humble when they instruct and guide. Ask yourself how you are doing with these three. Unless you are perfect, there is room to improve.

Fasting and Prayer

All Scriptures (English Standard Version)

Mark 9: 25-29

25And when Jesus saw that a crowd came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, “You mute and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.” 26And after crying out and convulsing him terribly, it came out, and the boy was like a corpse, so that most of them said, “He is dead.” 27But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose. 28And when he had entered the house, his disciples asked him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?” 29And he said to them, “This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer.”

Matthew 6:16-18 (ESV)

16“And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 17But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, 18that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

Isaiah 58 (ESV)

1 “Cry aloud; do not hold back; lift up your voice like a trumpet; declare to my people their transgression, to the house of Jacob their sins. 2 Yet they seek me daily and delight to know my ways, as if they were a nation that did righteousness and did not forsake the judgment of their God; they ask of me righteous judgments; they delight to draw near to God. 3 ‘Why have we fasted, and you see it not? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you take no knowledge of it?’ Behold, in the day of your fast you seek your own pleasure,a and oppress all your workers. 4 Behold, you fast only to quarrel and to fight and to hit with a wicked fist. Fasting like yours this day will not make your voice to be heard on high. 5 Is such the fast that I choose, a day for a person to humble himself? Is it to bow down his head like a reed, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? Will you call this a fast, and a day acceptable to the Lord?

6 “Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressedb go free, and to break every yoke? 7 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh? 8 Then shall your light break forth like the dawn, and your healing shall spring up speedily; your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard. 9 Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; you shall cry, and he will say, ‘Here I am.’ If you take away the yoke from your midst, the pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness, 10 if you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday. 11 And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. 12 And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in.

13 “If you turn back your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasurec on my holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight and the holy day of the Lord honorable; if you honor it, not going your own ways, or seeking your own pleasure,d or talking idly;e 14 then you shall take delight in the Lord, and I will make you ride on the heights of the earth;f I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

The scriptures are pretty clear on fasting and prayer. It’s interesting that all of the scriptures point to a positive outcome for the community when people are fasting and not just securing outcomes for themselves. Isaiah states that God will not even acknowledge fasting that ignores social jusitice. Jesus demonstrated God’s power often and attributed some of it to fasting, attesting to a greater portion for those who adhere to His instruction. Simply put, we have to get back to prayer and fasting as a discipline and way of life.

There are many benefits to be reaped when the fasting is done for the right reasons and motives. I have found that there is a heightened awareness of God and conscience during these times. There is also a greater dependence on Him, coupled with a stripping away of worldly distractions. We learn to push past hunger pains, and empty spiritual routines. Our prayer life becomes richer and more vibrant. We move beyond spiritual jargon into a realm of real intimacy and joyful worship. We experience the kingdom in a greater way.  In short, fasting becomes a kingdom now instead of kingdom come mentality.

Some Benefits of Fasting

1. Sets oneself apart to God

2. Promotes self discipline and sacrifice

3. Drives out spiritual opposition

4. Promotes Kingdom Now (You can do something right now to promote God’s kingdom.)

5. Accelerates God’s favor in situations He has led us to

6. Softens the heart toward God and others

7. Releases blessings and deliverance into the lives of others

Borthers and sisters if you have not combined fasting with prayer seek the Lord to understand this powerful approach to Him. Next, implement this into your life.

Eternal Perspective

This is a great and timely article from the Christian Post. It is very helpful and it instructs us to be mindful of the kingdom of heaven first and foremost.  I must admit perspective is a powerful motivator and having the right one is key.

Mental Beachheads

II Corinthians 10:4-6

4For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. 5We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, 6being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.”

Imagine if you will invading the territory of an enemy that is well fortified (Saving Private Ryan link). The sudden incoming fire would be swift, certain and devastating to most people. However, those that press through would gain a beachhead, and a way and means to become offensive against the enemy. Our minds are the same way. When we decide to renew them, we are bombarded with accusations, reasons, excuses and frustrations that compel us to take cover, retreat or fight.

The divine power that we possess through Christ enables us to take thoughts captive, while demolishing the so called wisdom of the day. As believers we have placed our confidence in Christ, but we still struggle with old thinking and the fusillades of arguments and pretensions that attempt to take us captive. If we build strong mental beachheads from the word of God and walk faithfully in obedience to God, we will be able to withstand the incoming missiles of fear, unbelief, self doubt and guilt. We belong to God himself, no matter what our minds, feelings and the world tells us. We belong to Christ!

Antibodies For Your Mind

The world is not filled with thoughtless, careless people. It is filled with people who have minds flooded with confusing and contradictory information. Their wills are adrift in a flood of noise.  Uncertain where to turn; they simply follow the latest craze.  I am fond of scientific terms that explain functions and the word antibody may help to illustrate the points I am attempting to make regarding one’s thought life.  An antibody seeks out anything that is foreign to the body and attaches to it, signaling for other antibodies to join it. These agents then engulf and destroy foreign substances known as antigens.

Strong people have a clear sense of purpose and they have developed their own mental immune systems that produce antibodies that destroy antigens in their minds. Maybe your mind is just filled with antigens and the antibodies you need are already within you.  The kingdom certainly is!

Piecemeal DIY (Do it Yourself) Theology and Self Delusion = Dead Works

(All Passages from Biblos.com and Verses are from the ESV Bible)

Isaiah 44: 9-20

9All who fashion idols are nothing, and the things they delight in do not profit. Their witnesses neither see nor know, that they may be put to shame. 10Who fashions a god or casts an idol that is profitable for nothing? 11Behold, all his companions shall be put to shame, and the craftsmen are only human. Let them all assemble, let them stand forth. They shall be terrified; they shall be put to shame together.

12The ironsmith takes a cutting tool and works it over the coals. He fashions it with hammers and works it with his strong arm. He becomes hungry, and his strength fails; he drinks no water and is faint. 13The carpenter stretches a line; he marks it out with a pencil. He shapes it with planes and marks it with a compass. He shapes it into the figure of a man, with the beauty of a man, to dwell in a house. 14He cuts down cedars, or he chooses a cypress tree or an oak and lets it grow strong among the trees of the forest. He plants a cedar and the rain nourishes it. 15Then it becomes fuel for a man. He takes a part of it and warms himself; he kindles a fire and bakes bread. Also he makes a god and worships it; he makes it an idol and falls down before it. 16Half of it he burns in the fire. Over the half he eats meat; he roasts it and is satisfied. Also he warms himself and says, “Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire!” 17And the rest of it he makes into a god, his idol, and falls down to it and worships it. He prays to it and says, “Deliver me, for you are my god!”

18They know not, nor do they discern, for he has shut their eyes, so that they cannot see, and their hearts, so that they cannot understand. 19No one considers, nor is there knowledge or discernment to say, “Half of it I burned in the fire; I also baked bread on its coals; I roasted meat and have eaten. And shall I make the rest of it an abomination? Shall I fall down before a block of wood?” 20He feeds on ashes; a deluded heart has led him astray, and he cannot deliver himself or say, “Is there not a lie in my right hand?”

The question might be,”Why is this a relevant passage?” The answer is simple; we do the same thing with scriptures that other people have done with wood, stone and iron.

II Peter 3:14-17

14Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace. 15And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, 16as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. 17You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability.

Jesus reminds us of the idolatry doctrine and ideas contrary to him. Remember the Jews did not erect images in the likeness of God, they created doctrines that replaced visual idolatry with mental constructs that hinder God’s ability to reach his people. These schemas created and inverse relationship that limited God’s authority while increasing the flock’s dependency on the religious figures of the day, giving rise to man’s spiritual authority.

Matthew 16:5-12

5When the disciples reached the other side, they had forgotten to bring any bread. 6Jesus said to them, “Watch and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” 7And they began discussing it among themselves, saying, “We brought no bread.” 8But Jesus, aware of this, said, “O you of little faith, why are you discussing among yourselves the fact that you have no bread? 9Do you not yet perceive? Do you not remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets you gathered? 10Or the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many baskets you gathered? 11How is it that you fail to understand that I did not speak about bread? Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” 12Then they understood that he did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

And so we stand at a crossroads in our faith. Will we create or own doctrines that come from our flesh and erect doctrines of deceit, fueled by demons?

I Timothy 4:1-5

1Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, 2through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, 3who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 4For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.”

Saints we live in an age of deceit and redefining. Everything is subject to new interpretation and many are enamored with both the natural and social sciences of this age. But speculation and truth are not the same. The truth will set us free from delusion. Christ promised that the Holy Spirit would “…guide you into all the truth…” (John 16:13)

The reality is that it is so easy to be deceived and in a state of delusion about many things. Often we are unaware of our dependency on the thoughts of others that have permeated our thinking. It does not matter whether it’s politics, culture, religious tradition or our pet scriptures. We become dependent on these mantras during times of crises for solace and comfort – hoping to find God’s presence in the repetitive practice. This is the snare of religion and relgiousity. In the end, the doctrines, well, they enslave us.

Colossians 2:8

A similar thing is with the well-known medication of miamistonecrabs.com cheap cialis. buy cheap cialis http://miamistonecrabs.com/lacrosse-camp/ The enzymes perform inside the penis. This medication must be taken just on the off chance that you consider that your life is not harmed due to it in any case or by any chance. generic pharmacy cialis On the other hand, men who wake and go for walk or exercise make a great contribution in worsening the overall health and sexual relation discount viagra between the two. “See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.”

Here’s the great news. You don’t have to go to God with your preconceived ideas and schemas to win favor. You don’t have to go through and earthly mediator. God has made a way for you to leave the precepts of dead works and manufactured approaches behind. His love is the route you take, trusting solely in that and his election of you. You have a representative in heaven praying for you now. He is your high priest, God himself in the flesh – Jesus.

Hebrews 7: 18-25

18For on the one hand, a former commandment is set aside because of its weakness and uselessness 19(for the law made nothing perfect); but on the other hand, a better hope is introduced, through which we draw near to God.

20And it was not without an oath. For those who formerly became priests were made such without an oath, 21but this one was made a priest with an oath by the one who said to him:

“The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind, ‘You are a priest forever.’”

22This makes Jesus the guarantor of a better covenant.

23The former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office, 24but he holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues forever. 25Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermostb those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.”

Do not let anyone make you insecure in the price that was paid for you. We have been saved from wrath, but Christ is also able to save us “to the uttermost” This means our delusions, our fears, self imposed wounds and pride. Will you let him?

If not heed the words of Paul:

1 Corinthians 3: 11-15

11For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw— 13each one’s work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. 14If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. 15If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.”

I hope your work stands, truly I do.

Seeking God? What Happens When He Reveals His Will?

Isaiah 58: 6-11 NIV Version 1984

Biblos.com

6“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?  7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? 8 hen your light will break forth like the dawn, nand your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousnessa will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.  9 Then you will call, and the Lord will answer;you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. “If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, 10 and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.  11 The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. 12 Your people will rebuild the ancient ruinsand will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls,Restorer of Streets with dwellings.

It is a statement to God and others who may need to know, that you are seeking his face. Often fasting comes about because of pressing needs or deep personal anguish over a matter. We petition God for favor and we fast as a way of seperating ourselves from other daily endeavors. Here is the million dollar question. What happens when he reveals himself? You see what we do after a fast is the most important thing. The fact that we fasted means little to nothing if we do not implement his instruction. We can continue to fast and in God’s eyes it is nothing more than a fleshly work that seeks to curry divine favor apart from real obedience.

If you read the passages above you will see that what I have said is in line with what God has already revealed. So many times we say we are doing God’s will or seeking God and in reality we are seeking other things that we deem more satisfactory or important that his will. We agree, on an intellectual basis, that God’s will is important and should be known; however, we struggle to do what we know because we don’t believe we will find satisfaction in it. Let’s be real – how would we like to hear the words above from a prophet after we had fasted and prayed. It seems as if God did not even address their desires until the latter versus. These blessings would be a result of obedience, not the result of fasting and seeking after these things.

Here is a great approach to fasting. Once God reveals something to you, the time to fast and pray begins. It’s here where we petition him for favor to fulfill his mission in our lives and when we meet resistance, fast and pray again. Fasting should be a normal way of life for a believer. God certainly wants to lead us in this area of our lives as much as he does in other areas. Jesus went into the wilderness and fasted because he was led there (See John 4:1-11) God will lead us into times of seperation and seeking as well. Remember when it come to God’s will three things are important: seek, listen, do!
