Blessed Indeed

“We need deliberately to call to mind the joys of our journey. Perhaps we should try to write down the blessings of one day. We might begin; we could never end; there are not pens or paper enough in all the world.” — George A. Buttrick

Psalm 146:5 NIV Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD their God.

We are indeed blessed by God. It has nothing to do with material things, power or position.

Do You Know Who You Are?

“God sees with utter clarity who we are. He is undeceived as to our warts and wickedness. But when God looks at us that is not all He sees. He also sees who we are intended to be, who we will one day become.” — John Ortberg

1 John 3:2NKJV Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

2 Corinthians 5:20-21 NKJV 20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

We spend a lot of time trying to be what we think we should be or in some cases, what others think, feel or believe we should be. We are blinded by this desire and therefore cannot recognize that the One who created us, may have something to say about who we are and/or who we are to become.

It sounds obvious that we should be more concerned about who God wants us to be, yet, it doesn’t stop us from trying to be something else or in our minds, something more.

I find that the real issue is interpreting what we do for a living, what we get paid for, or what our titles and positions may be, as determining who we are. We unknowingly or purposely, live our lives based on this.

I believe that as Christians, we suffer from an identity crisis. When we are with our families and/or friends, we are one way. When we are at work, we are another way. At church we are yet, even another way. We may not think we are, but if we are honest with ourselves, we know that this is something we often times struggle with.

The good news is that even if we are struggling with who we are, God knows exactly. And because He loves us, He continues to guide, direct, mold and shape us into who He created us to be. Sometimes is a soft whisper to let us know that He’s there. Sometimes we read a scripture that reminds us of who we are in Him. And sometimes, He allows a storm or test/trial to come our way to let us know that as His child, we can call on Him.

And that my brothers and sisters, is something to be thankful for.

May you find your identity in Him.

He Can Make The Impossible…Possible

“When God is about to do something great, he starts with a difficulty. When he is about to do something truly magnificent, he starts with an impossibility.” — Armin Gesswein

Luke 1:37 NKJV “For with God nothing will be impossible.”

We’ve read this. We’ve heard this. And yes, probably even said this ourselves. But…do we really believe it?

I will submit to you today and hopefully remind and encourage you, that God has indeed, performed some miraculous and once seemingly impossible things in your life. At the time, our emotions either tried to rationalize our good fortune or chalked it up to being lucky. We may even have given God the praise for once again, ” making a way out of no way”. However, as time has gone by, we tend to forget what God has done for us, because we are constantly looking for God to bail us out of our next impossibility.

And unfortunately, that impossibility is all that we can see at the time.
They can ask some questions and actually treat you online generic levitra other for non life threatening conditions. However, if we could only turn our gaze and focus from what seems impossible for us and turn and remember what God can do. We can see that the glory and power of God is just a prayer, a position of faith and trust away. For we know that God works best, when we take our hands off of and out of the situation. When we decrease in the matter, God can and will increase His presence and power in the situation. Therefore, making the impossible, possible.

The Goliath that you may be facing today may seem impossible to defeat. For us, maybe. But for God, not a chance. God can and will do the impossible. We simply need only to get out of the way and allow Him to. And the best way I know to get out of the way, is to be on my knees.

May you recall all of the impossibilities in your life that God made possible. And in turn, be encouraged today, that you are more than a conqueror because of our Heavenly Father who loves us enough to provide us not only His Son, but His Spirit as well.

I’ve Seen Too Many Victories…

” I’ve had too many victories to let defeat have the last word.” – The Williams Brothers

1 Corinthians 15:55-58 NASB 55 O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY? O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; 57 but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.

Defeat does not have the last word in the lives of Believers because of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. True defeat, lies in sin and death and both of those have been made null and void in our lives by the blood Christ shed on Calvary.

Why is this important to know and grab a hold of in our spirits?  Because its easy to believe that a lot of our circumstances and situations exists because of our failures and therefore, we are failures. If and when we believe this treacherous and dangerous lie, we then have the tendency to drop our heads, lose our joy, our peace and allow another lie to take hold of us, which is; we are defeated.

As Believers we must see with a bigger, broader view.  We must see with our spiritual eyes and have an eternity viewpoint.  When we were lost in our sins and unbelief, that’s when we were defeated.  But glory to God, we heard the knocking on our hearts-door, opened our hearts and spirits and allowed Christ to give us the greatest victory of our lives: Salvation. Deliverance from sin and death. Reunited and reconciliation with Almighty God.

We need physical healing, financial healing, emotional healing, relationship healing and so on.  When we don’t see these healings being manifested in our lives yesterday, today, or expect it tomorrow, then we believe we have somehow failed or worst, God has failed, and then comes the spirit of defeat to attack and overcome our spirits.

But we have been given so many victories in our lives, not counting the greatest one that I’ve previously mentioned.  I would encourage us all, as another year is quickly coming to a close, to look back and list your victories. Count your blessings.  Focus on what God has done and provided in your lives this year, than what you feel you don’t have.

We cannot stand and provide hope for a world that is lost and in darkness, if we are walking around with not only our heads down, our fist clenched with holding on to the things of the world and our spirits wallowing in a lie of defeat.

We have to know that we belong to the KING!  We have to proclaim our victory over all things.  And that no matter what may come our way, our names will be read from the Book of Life by Christ one day soon.  This is our HOPE.  This is our VICTORY!

May You walk in your blessing as a Child of God today and everyday.

He Is God!

“Sometimes the Lord rides out the storm with us and other times He calms the restless sea around us. Most of all, He calms the storm inside us in our deepest inner soul.” — Lloyd John Ogilvie

Luke 8:24-25NLT 24 The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” So Jesus rebuked the wind and the raging waves. The storm stopped and all was calm! 25 Then he asked them, “Where is your faith?” And they were filled with awe and amazement. They said to one another, “Who is this man, that even the winds and waves obey him?”

I was intrigued this morning with the thought of being “awed” by God and what does that really mean.

Awed is defined as: being inspired by a feeling of fearful wonderment or reverence. -vocabulary.com

In my terms, it means to me, that God is so amazing, so wonderful, that its hard to wrap my mind around all that God is and all that He does. Basically, my finite mind cannot figure God out. And I’m thankful that I can’t.

For if I could, then there would be no faith. God would be brought down to my level of thinking and understanding, and to be honest, that would not be a god that I would or could put my trust in.

Alcohol intake and http://canterburymewscooperative.com/another_page.html discount cialis fatty foods can delay the action of these pills.
I am so glad God’s ways are not mine. I’m thankful that when I can’t love myself, He does. When I lose hope, He provides it. When I am weak, His strength is in abundance. When I see test, trials and storms, God sees reproving, renewing, restoring, cleansing and unconditional love.

Are you in AWE of God today? Does He fit in your box of understanding, and control, or do you simply worship and praise Him in fearful wonderment and reverence?

God isn’t “the man upstairs”. He’s not “the big guy in the sky”. He’s not just “a force of nature”, a feeling or a religion. He is God! He is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Creator of All. Omnipotent, Omniscient, Eternal. Beyond our comprehension, yet right here with us. Loving us in spite of ourselves. Forgiving, patient, merciful and full of grace.

Do you stand, kneel, sit in awe of Him today? I don’t know about you, but He is worthy of all honor and praise. He’s worthy of our worship and reverence. He deserves all the glory. For He is God.

May He continue to reveal His awesomeness to you. May He bless you with all that you need today.

Do You Really Love Him?

“God wants our attention more than any gifts or works.” – Charles Stanley, In Touch Ministries

Deuteronomy 7:12 NIV 12 If you pay attention to these laws and are careful to follow them, then the LORD your God will keep his covenant of love with you, as he swore to your ancestors.

He also prefers our obedience, trust and faith. Its really simple, yet, we seem to struggle with keeping our sole focus on God in every area of our lives.

Why is this so difficult? Why can’t we make and keep God a priority in our lives?

I wish I had a good answer or a simply formula to share today. But as I reflect on these questions for myself, I keep coming back to my understanding of what love means to me.

God’s definition of love and His subsequent actions of love, is in giving me/us everything of Himself. His focus and actions are directed towards us. God is not distracted or drawn away from us with something or someone else that He loves. He is able to have a relationship with every individual and be there for that person at all times.

I believe that our love for God is a constant learning process. We may say we love the Lord, but in actuality, we are learning to fall in love with Him. The more we fall in love, the more we are willing to give and commit ourselves and all that we have to Him. We do not need someone or anyone to encourage us to spend time with God or to give or to serve Him. It becomes a desire, a daily way of living, to acknowledge the importance of God in our lives. This also drives us to want to be more like His Son.

Our lust of the eye, lust of the flesh and pride of life (1 John 2:16), becomes our daily battle that inhibits us in keeping our attention on the One, who is able to love us completely AND has promised to provide all that we would ever need. Particularly, on a more deeper, spiritual level than what our eyes, flesh an selfish pride can provide.

My prayer for us today is, that we recognize our need to fall in love with Jesus. For some, it may mean to fall more in love with Him. But for all of us, it may mean to fall less in love with this world and things.

May you come to know more of God’s love and plan for you. God bless.

Hot Or Cold For The Lord…We Can’t Be Both

“One is a Christian 7/24/365 or he is but a tinkling cymbal.” — Richard H. Jett

Revelations 3:14-22 NLT 15 “I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! 16 But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth! 17 You say, ‘I am rich. I have everything I want. I don’t need a thing!’ And you don’t realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked. 18 So I advise you to buy gold from me—gold that has been purified by fire. Then you will be rich. Also buy white garments from me so you will not be shamed by your nakedness, and ointment for your eyes so you will be able to see. 19 I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference. 20 “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. 21 Those who are victorious will sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat with my Father on his throne. 22 “Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches.”

My brothers and sisters; either we are who we proclaim we are – Christians, Children of God, Believers in Christ, or we are lying to ourselves and everyone else. We may believe we can get by or get away with it for a while, but God knows. He knows our hearts, our intentions, our wants and desires. He knows if we claim to follow His Son, but really only want the benefits that Christ provides.

We need to make up our minds and hearts who we really want to serve. We must be more than just people with a title, a church, a choir, a pastor. We have to really understand who Christ is and who we are called to represent. And live in such a way, that draws the attention of the world to Christ…IN A POSITIVE WAY. I shouldn’t have to add that last part, but unfortunately, there are too many, under the name of Christ, who is or has drawn the attention of the world in the worst manner ever. But we must be different. We must make a difference.

Anything else is just noise, lost amongst the babble and uproar of a world, spinning out of control, under its own lusts and desires.

Free-Will…Don’t Let It Keep You From His Will

Charles Spurgeon: ”  I see, in one place, God in providence presiding over all, and yet I see, and cannot help seeing, that man acts as he pleases, and that God has left his actions, in a great measure, to his own free-will.

There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the LORD. — Proverbs 21:30 (NIV)

A lot of people, even Christians, fall into this trap that they can out-think or out plan God. We amass so much knowledge, experience and faulty logic, that we are led to believe that we have things figured out…or at least the next steps.

The problem with this type of reasoning is that we are actually in control of very little in our lives.  We only have control of our choices and our attitudes.  And even those are heavily influenced by our current situations.

However, God doesn’t change. He is timeless, and therefore, knows all the options from start to finish.  He is Sovereign and therefore, nothing escapes His Will.  Nothing is allowed, unless by His permission. See Job 1:6-12.

If we would only surrender all, trust and rest in God’s care.  We would find that we would not have to waste our time trying to out-think God or worry about a future that ultimately is God’s to establish.

Alas, our FREE-WILL.

Can you see that far in the future to avoid these things?

If the answer is “no”, then why does a God who says He loves us, allow these things or has planned them for our future?

To keep this short this morning, just let me say again, that God is Sovereign and that He knows what is needed to get us to the future He planned for His Children.  Some of those unpleasant moments in our lives have set us on the right course to Him or and some have kept us on that course.

I for one wish it was or could be different, but in light of Job 1:6-12, the entire book of Job and what Christ endured for our salvation, I’m willing to simply surrender all and trust the ONE, who knows all and is All.

As far as my Free-Will…I thank God daily for His mercy and patience with me. Because if left to my own imagination, wisdom and desires, I would still be lost in my sins and my life would eventually be headed to an unpleasant eternal end.

Yes, God allows us to have Free-Will, but I rather have HIS WILL.

Know that we are truly blessed to have Christ as our Advocate.

God Is Always Right

“We get our moral bearings by looking at God. We must begin with God. We are right when, and only when, we stand in a right position relative to God, and we are wrong so far and so long as we stand in any other position.” — A. W. Tozer

Hebrews 4:12-13 NKJV For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

Isn’t it true that we are “right”, always right in our own minds? We take in the information we see and hear, filter it through our experiences, hopes, doubts and fears, then determine our actions based on how we feel. Oh, we think we have come to our decisions in a logical and methodical manner, but doesn’t it really come down to how we feel based on the condition of our hearts?

Well, maybe this is how I do it and no one else has this issue. After all, we are always “right”. *;) winking

Now as Believers, we know that the Bible is the Word of God and it is true. 1 Thessalonians 2:13 NKJV For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.

However, based on the condition of our hearts that is susceptible to all manner of influences both internal and external, we tend to take God’s Word and develop our own truths and what we will follow. We choose what scriptures are “comfortable” or self-satisfying or simply what please us, and we base our decisions and actions on our owen understanding and subsequent wisdom.

However, they india cheap cialis discover now need to be taken as and when prescribed for better and faster results. The problem is, if indeed the Word of God is true, then it makes sense that all of it is true and all of it should apply to how we live our lives. Again, this is only my opinion and my “rightness” is suspect based on the condition of my heart.

Here’s the good news; God is always right. It doesn’t matter what you and I may think is right, God is. His Word has stood over thousands of years and will continue to do so after our opinions have faded into the past.

So what is the purpose of this morning’s devotional: to be free, to have peace, to rest in the truth of God. At the end of the day or when we stand before our Creator, our lives will be measured by the TRUTH. Not our truth, but God’s. Did we believe in Jesus and the Son of God? Did we repent of our sins and sought to follow after the ways and character of Christ? And with our free-will, did we choose a life of faith in Jesus?

Every day we are bombarded with a new “truth.” A new way of living, of believing, and a new thing to believe in. Every day we are confronted with an attack on the validity of the Gospel of Christ and the Kingdom of God. Every day we are challenged to stand on the truth of the Word of God or the dictates of the world.

The question today really is, “What truth is your foundation built on?” The answer, your answer has eternal implications.

May God bless you and show you favor today.

A Purpose And A Hope

“Live as though Christ died yesterday, rose from the grave today, and is coming back tomorrow.” — Theodore Epp

2 Timothy 1:9-10 NLT  9 For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus. 10 And now he has made all of this plain to us by the appearing of Christ Jesus, our Savior. He broke the power of death and illuminated the way to life and immortality through the Good News.

Let us live each day, realizing that our lives were purchased by God, through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.  We are being cleaned, rewrapped and properly packaged to finally be presented to Christ at the appropriate time of His return.

We will be complete, both inside and out.

Until that wonderful day, we must live as if that day is days, minutes, seconds away. I know you may think it is impossible to live a holy life in today’s society, but it is.  We have God, who will not fail us. We have Jesus who has provided us access to God. And we have the Holy Spirit that not only guides us, warns us, protects us, but also empowers and strengthened us to persevere and endure.  Yes, we can live with purpose and hope.  For that is exactly what we have been given…A Purpose and A Hope.

May you find that purpose and hope to rejoice today.
