“Man, made in the image of God, has a purpose – to be in relationship to God, who is there. Man forgets his purpose and thus he forgets who he is and what life means.” — Francis Schaeffer
Psalm 57:2 NLT I cry out to God Most High, to God who will fulfill his purpose for me.
Proverbs 19:21 NLT You can make many plans, but the LORD’s purpose will prevail.
Ephesians 1:12-14 NLT 12 God’s purpose was that we Jews who were the first to trust in Christ would bring praise and glory to God. 13 And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. 14 The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.
Everything that God created has a purpose. So do you. When we remember this, we realize that life is worth living and living for God is our life. Or at least it should be. Because we were created in His image, our purpose for being created is to bring glory to God. Its just that simple.
However our sins of selfishness, lusts, greed and lack of love and compassion, blocks our vision of who we are and that we belong to God. Now enters Jesus, who removes the blinders and stains of all our sins in order that we can fulfill our created purpose. But God is not going to force us. We must desire Him and His purpose for our lives.

So are we fulfilling our purpose? Do we even give it a second thought or are we just going through life trying to survive? Can I tell you that living without a purpose in life is simply surviving, not living?
Now, keep in mind, that there are a lot of purposes out there. To be healthy, wealthy and wise. To have power, riches and fame. To be comfortable, safe and protected. To have more than the next person or to have all you desire. Yes, we can live for many different purposes, but what I challenge you with this morning is to live for the purpose that we were created….to love, honor and bring glory to God.
When all our fame, wealth and health fades away, what will we have? Only God is eternal and He offers us eternity with Him, in His kingdom. That’s why He created us.
May God open your eyes today and show you His unconditional love and forgiveness for you. No matter what you have done, no matter what your past may have looked like, no matter what your current situation is, God has a purpose for your life. To be with Him. All you have to do is claim His forgiveness through His son Jesus and receive His Spirit who will help you fulfill His purpose in you.
Sounds like a good deal? It is!
